We provide small animal after-hours emergency service at the Plattsburgh Animal Hospital located in Plattsburgh, NY. On occasions, small animal emergencies will be referred to the Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists in Williston, VT, or the Northway Animal Emergency Clinic in Gansevoort, NY based on the availability of our on-call veterinarian. We understand that emergencies don’t always occur during the most convenient time of the day. These veterinary emergency centers are open 24 hours every day, 365 days a year. On those days we can’t offer after-hours emergency service for small animals our on-call answering service will provide you with these options including phone numbers and addresses.

Effective January 1st, 2020 Adirondack Veterinary Hospital no longer offers large animal veterinary services. For large animal services including Large Animal After Hour Emergency Services please contact:

When to Seek Emergency Veterinary Care:

Below are general guidelines to help you decide whether to seek out emergency care for your pet. Call us if you need help. We are here ready to assist!

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Acute abdominal swelling
  • Electric shock
  • Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
  • Excessive bleeding
  • Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
  • Repetitive and prolonged seizures
  • Snake bites
  • High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
  • Unable to urinate or defecate
